Build a simple one-page website with Claude

A one-page website for your business built in a Claude chat, ready to share by link or hand to whoever hosts your domain.

Short answer Paste the prompt below into Claude with your own details and you get a one-page website for your business built in a Claude chat, ready to share by link or hand to whoever hosts your domain. Works on free plans. Time saved: about half a day compared with building from a template (estimate).

Why it helps

Plenty of small businesses still don't have a website, or have one that's years out of date. A simple one-page site with what you do, where, and how to get in touch is enough for most local customers.

Claude can build that page for you in a chat. As of 23 October 2026, Anthropic's Artifacts page says anything Claude makes (a document, a dashboard or a small interactive tool) is private until you share it, and on Free, Pro and Max plans you can share it with anyone who has the link. That's handy for a draft or a quick landing page. For your own domain, you'll still need hosting, which your domain provider or web person can sort.

The prompt

Copy it, swap the bits in [square brackets], and paste it into ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini or Copilot.

Copy and paste

Business: [name, what you do, where] Who it's for: [your customers] Sections: a headline that says what we do and where, services, why choose us, service area, how to get in touch. Contact: [email and how you prefer to be contacted] Look: [colours, feel, e.g. clean and simple, dark green and white] Rules: - Use only the facts I give you. Don't invent reviews, awards, years in business, prices or stats. Leave a clear placeholder if something's missing. - Mobile-friendly, fast and readable. No stock photos. - Plain words, short sentences.

Then keep chatting

  • Make the headline shorter and clearer.

  • Add a simple FAQ section with these questions: [your questions].

  • Check this page for anything that might be hard to read on a phone.

Step by step

  1. Get your words ready first: what you do, where, services and contact details. The website words use case helps.
  2. Paste the prompt into Claude and look at the preview. Ask for changes until it's right.
  3. Check every fact, phone and email on the page. Remove anything Claude added that isn't true.
  4. Share the link with a couple of customers or friends for feedback.
  5. To put it on your own domain, download the file and give it to your domain provider or web person to host.

Watch out for

  • Only true facts. Under the Fair Trading Act, claims on your website must be true. Delete any reviews, awards or numbers Claude added that aren't real (consumerprotection.govt.nz).
  • Privacy: if you add a contact form, you're collecting personal information, so add a privacy statement. The website privacy policy use case helps (privacy.org.nz).
  • Check sharing settings. A shared link can be opened by anyone who has it. Features change quickly, so check Claude's Artifacts page for what your plan allows today.

Go further

Start with the words: the homepage, About page and Google profile use case writes them. If you want a page that shows your numbers instead, the spreadsheet to dashboard use case uses the same approach.
